Some years ago, Sue made the following post
regarding Hebblethwaites from Slaidburn:
My mother Olive West (nee
Hebblethwaite) was born in 1922 to Hugh Hebblethwaite (b.1887) and Florence
(nee Till) in Cloughfold, Nr Manchester but moved down to Soham, Cambs
after meeting my father during the war. Her grandfather Hugh Hebblethwaite
was born in Slaidburn (now in Lancs, previously Yorks). Her great grandfather
was also called Hugh Hebblethwaite.
More recently she has discovered that the
Slaidburn connection was temporary as the family only lived there for a short
period. In August 2014 she writes:
I have my connection as far back
as my 4 g grandfather John Hebblethwaite born around 1751 in the Ellel area of
Lancaster. He married a Mary Wilkinson b 1750 in Cockerham in 1771. I think his
father was also called John but we have no further details on him so it would be
helpful if anyone out there does have. I do know that I come from the same line
as Chris Hebblethwaite and his ancestor James Hebblethwaite the Tasmanian poet. |
