I am much indebted to Mr Clifford Marshall, son of Jane Mary Hebblethwaite (who married John Thomas Marshall), for tracing earlier generations of the Hebblethwaite family tree. The results of his research are shown below:

Robert Hebblethwaite Jnr
Robert was the son of Robert and Ellen Hebblethwaite. He was born in 1767 and baptised at Whittington on 20.09.1767. He married Jane Wigglesworth at Kirkby Lonsdale on 13.11.1793. He died 12.09.1863 at the age of 95 and was buried at Hutton Roof. His wife died 27.01.1845 at the age of 77. They had one son, Richard.

Robert Hebblethwaite Snr
Robert was the only son of Richard and Agnes Hebblethwaite. He was born in 1725 and baptised at Whittington on 23.05.1725. He married Ellen Johnson at Whittington on 21.04.1750, died 24.07.1799 and was buried at Tunstall. They had seven children. See the chart below.

Richard Hebblethwaite Jnr
Richard was the youngest son of Richard and Catherine Hebblethwaite. He was born in 1698 and baptised at Whittington on 04.09.1698. He married Agnes Smith at Kirkby Lonsdale on 11.04.1724. His date of death has still to be established. They had two children. See the chart below.

Richard Hebblethwaite Snr
Richard was the only son of James Hebblethwaite, who also had a daughter, Mary (born in 1669 and baptised at Kirkby Lonsdale 09.06.1669). He was born in 1668 and baptised at Kirkby Lonsdale on 29.02.1668. He married Catherine Harris at Kirkby Lonsdale on 08.05.1695. His date of death has still to be established. They had five children. At this point in his research, Mr Marshall has discovered three James Hebblethwaites who may have been the father of Richard and Mary. These are as follows:
